It is stemless and as an adult plant can grow up to 25 - 20 cm high including the inflorescence. The petals forming a tube up to 1.7cm long. The tips are flared, rounded, reddish-violet. It is a very pretty, easily grown species, which shows a certain variability in regard to the formation of the inflorescence they are sometimes drawn together into a head, sometimes elongated.
