The leaves have a slight velvety look and feel. colouring intensively red in strong sun at bloom time. The inflorescence drawn together into a head, appearing to be simple since the small spikes produce a few blue flowers. It likes bright, sunny position with moderate damp. It is usually stemless and the leaves can spread up to 25cm across.
