The mature rosettes with their hard stiff leaves measure 5 - 8 cm in diameter. At its base it occasionally develops several rosette offshoots which begin with a runner-like section 5-10cm long covered with hard scale leaves. It is a characteristic plant of the rainy savannah forest of Northern Peru and of Southern Ecuador. The flowers are blue, upright, 3mm long. It requires bright, sunny and dry conditions. A small recommended species.
